North Central College’s Department of Theatre presents the musical Fun Home this November at the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S Ellsworth St in Naperville. The show has music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and it is based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel.

The college lists five performances over four days, from Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8, 2026, with evening and afternoon showtimes. Tickets are $14 for the public.

Performances and Tickets

Performances are Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are sold through the college, and the official event page links to its ticketing.

The Department of Theatre’s ticket policy lists $14 for the public and $0 for North Central College students, faculty, and staff. Faculty and staff receive two free tickets with their NCC ID, and every NCC student receives a complimentary ticket.

About the Musical

As the college describes the story, graphic novelist Alison looks back on her past after her father dies unexpectedly, telling the story of the volatile, brilliant man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. Moving between past and present, Alison relives her childhood playing at the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the unanswerable questions about her father’s hidden desires.

The college calls Fun Home “a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes.”

Content Advisory

The college’s content advisory states that this play contains mature topics, including suicide, homophobia, and predatory behavior. The Department of Theatre notes that it has worked to identify potentially triggering subject matter but cannot identify every moment, because individual concerns vary. If you have questions about content, the department asks you to contact the Box Office, which can put you in touch with the right person for the production.

About the Venue

The Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall stands at 31 South Ellsworth Street. According to the college, this former historical church building was renovated and modernized in 2007 and houses an intimate 239-seat theatre with a thrust stage. Downtown Naperville’s restaurants are nearby if you want dinner before an evening show.
