Naperville teens in grades 6-12 have a fun, hands-on way to spend a Wednesday afternoon this November. On November 18, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Nichols Library invites you to build your own dinosaur terrarium in a small container…no registration needed, but space is limited to the first 12 participants.
This free program from the Naperville Public Library turns a simple craft into a creative dino habitat right in downtown Naperville at 200 W. Jefferson Ave.
Why You Can’t Miss Teen DIY: Dinosaur Terrariums at Nichols Library
If your middle or high schooler loves dinosaurs, plants, or making things with their hands, this one-hour session delivers exactly that. You will craft a miniature prehistoric scene inside a terrarium using supplied materials to create a self-contained dino habitat.
The event fits easily into after-school schedules for Naperville families who live or work near downtown, the Riverwalk, or nearby neighborhoods in DuPage County.
What to Expect
Participants create a dinosaur terrarium. The activity encourages creativity while teaching basic care for a closed ecosystem.
Because space is capped at the first 12 teens who arrive, plan to get there a few minutes early.
- Grades 6-12 only
- No advance registration required
- First-come, first-served up to 12 spots
- All supplies provided by the Naperville Public Library

Tips for a Smooth Experience
This is a standalone session, not part of a recurring series, so mark the calendar for this specific date. Teens should come ready to focus for the full hour and can bring a friend as long as both arrive in time for the limited spots.
After the program, families often enjoy a stroll along the nearby Riverwalk or grab a bite in downtown Naperville before heading home.
Head to the Naperville Public Library calendar for the latest details and to confirm the event page. Spaces fill quickly for popular teen programs like this, so plan ahead for your dino-terrarium adventure on November 18.

Plan Your Visit and Confirm the Latest Details
Before leaving home, open the official organizer listing and check that the schedule and entry instructions still match your plans. A listing gives you a place to start, but a reservation, ticket purchase or numbered admission ticket may be a separate step. Follow the instructions for this particular session rather than relying on the rules for another program at the same venue.
Keep the event address and your confirmation, if one is required, available on your phone. If you need information about accessible entry, seating, participation requirements or accommodations, contact the organizer before attending. For a children’s or teen program, check the stated age or grade range with the participant. That small amount of preparation helps you choose an activity that fits and gives you time to resolve questions before the scheduled start.
