Family STEM Night – Fantastic Food Science

Step back in time and discover the delicious science of the frontier at Naper Settlement’s Family STEM Night! This interactive evening invites families to explore how early pioneers preserved and prepared their food before the era of modern refrigeration and supermarkets.

Through engaging, hands-on activities, children and their caretakers will uncover the fascinating science behind pickling, baking, and fermentation. Participants will learn how to connect these historic, time-tested survival techniques to the modern food science we rely on today. This program is highly recommended for children ages 5 to 11 and their caretakers. Family STEM Nights proudly honors the work of Sally L. Pentecost, a dedicated Naperville educator and administrator, celebrating her twenty-four years of service to the Naperville Heritage Society Board of Directors.
