Waubonsie Valley High School

Waubonsie Valley High School serves grades 9-12 in Indian Prairie School District 204. The campus sits at 2590 Ogden Avenue in Aurora, which catches many Naperville families by surprise: a large share of subdivisions inside Naperville’s city limits are assigned to a District 204 high school with an Aurora address. The mailing address says nothing about which community the students come from.

Waubonsie Valley opened to students in 1975 and was the first of District 204’s three high schools. It is home of the Warriors, named for Chief Waubonsie of the Potawatomi. The campus includes a planetarium that also runs public and school-day programming, and the adjacent Eola Hill Prairie and Lake Waubonsie, planted and maintained by students since 2001.

District 204’s official subdivision-to-school list assigns a number of Naperville neighborhoods to Waubonsie Valley, including White Eagle, Tall Grass, Heatherstone, Ashwood Park, Ashwood Pointe, Eagle Pointe and Penncross Knoll. Several of these are commonly and incorrectly marketed as Neuqua Valley. Boundaries are set by address rather than by subdivision name, and some names appear in more than one district, so confirm any specific property against the district’s current list before relying on it.

On the 2024-2025 Illinois Report Card, Waubonsie Valley enrolled 2,713 students, posted a 94.5 percent graduation rate, and received a summative designation of Commendable School, meaning it had no underperforming student groups and a graduation rate above the state threshold.
