Dan Firks: Hello and welcome to this episode of Living in Naperville. Today I have the pleasure of meeting with Elena Bryant, the owner of Spa Lane here in the heart of downtown Naperville. Let’s see what she’s all about. Hello, Elena, how are you? Your spa looks amazing, I love all the products you have here.

Elena Bryant: Thank you for having me here today. I’m excited for you to meet me and my team.

Dan Firks: So Elena, thank you for being here today, I really appreciate your time. Tell me, what are your most popular services, and what sets them apart from other spots here in Naperville?

Elena Bryant: Absolutely. We are a medical esthetics spa, and we offer esthetic treatments like Botox, filler, Sculptra, and also medical facials, peels, laser, and microneedling. And we have a massage therapist here, and she comes with ten years of experience, she’s amazing. And we also offer microblading and brow artistry.

Dan Firks: I saw a piece of equipment out there, tell me about that.

Elena Bryant: So it has four paddles on it, so it can go on the abdomen, the arms, the glutes, or the legs. And we also have a pelvic floor attachment.

Dan Firks: That’s interesting. So if you put that on your abs, how many sit-ups are you supposedly doing?

Elena Bryant: 30,000 crunches in 30 minutes.

Dan Firks: 30,000 crunches in 30 minutes, with one machine, that’s incredible. And there’s radiofrequency energy in the paddles too?

Elena Bryant: Yes, it tightens the skin.

Dan Firks: What’s it called?

Elena Bryant: The MO Neo.

Dan Firks: The MO Neo, okay, we’re going to have to check that machine out. For someone visiting the spa for the first time, what should they expect?

Elena Bryant: Most of our clients say when they come in, they feel like we’re all friends and family. They feel comfortable and safe, especially because all of our technicians have so many years of experience. We do a really nice, full consultation and listen to what your goals are for your skin, your wellness, your body, your face, all of it.

Dan Firks: I love that you mentioned family. Does your sister work with you?

Elena Bryant: Yes, she does. I’m an esthetician here, and my sister is an esthetician also. And her childhood best friend is also here, she’s a nurse practitioner, Melissa. We’ve known each other our whole lives. And then Brynn is our medical director and other nurse practitioner, and we’ve just become such good friends. Everyone gets along here so well. And then we have Nicole, our massage therapist. So it’s a tight-knit group.

Dan Firks: I love it, it really is a family.

Elena Bryant: We see all of our clients as friends and family too, and value the relationship so much.

Dan Firks: Thank you for that. So tell me, what specific skin or wellness concerns does your spa help with?

Elena Bryant: Oh my goodness, we’ve expanded so much in the past couple of years. We started out just doing facials and waxing, and now we’re a full medical spa that offers weight loss, hormone therapy, and IV therapy to repair the gut and help with overall health. Our massage therapist also does cupping, lymphatic drainage, relaxation, and hot stone massage.

Dan Firks: You have a lot of different services. Can you explain how cupping works? I’ve heard it’s usually on your back.

Elena Bryant: That’s right. It brings blood flow to the area that’s needed, to tight muscles, and it makes you feel refreshed.

Dan Firks: And you also do facials and body sculpting with the MO Neo machine, medical-grade chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microblading, there’s a lot of services. Really a one-stop shop.

Elena Bryant: Exactly, truly a one-stop shop. Our clients are really looking to get the procedures they want done without having to go to another spot for something else. Here at Spa Lane, you can have it all in one stop. We really feel like we have every service our clients need.

Dan Firks: So do you have any specialty techniques, technologies, or products that set your treatments apart from other spots in Naperville?

Elena Bryant: Absolutely. Radiofrequency microneedling is probably our number one esthetic facial treatment, it’s incredible. We also offer laser treatments with different settings for hair removal, collagen production, and lightening dark spots, that’s a huge treatment for us. And our nurse practitioners offer treatments for collagen production like Sculptra and Botox filler. We’re also a wellness spa that treats the whole body, looking at things like perimenopause and weight gain, and we have peptide treatments.

Dan Firks: What’s a peptide treatment?

Elena Bryant: Peptides are really the wave of the future. A popular one we offer is BPC-157, which treats things like fatigue or chronic pain in the body, those peptides go in and repair the cells. We also offer peptides for overall health and for weight loss, there are so many different peptides coming out. It’s a process that takes about one to three months, and most of the injections you do at home once a week on your own, so it’s really easy, you don’t have to come in all the time for them.

Elena Bryant: We also offer vitamin shots. I’ve experienced an incredible difference just from a $40 immunity shot every two weeks, I haven’t gotten sick this year, and my hair is thicker than it’s been in years.

Dan Firks: And that’s administered by the nurse practitioner, once every two weeks?

Elena Bryant: Yes. I have an autoimmune disease, so it bypasses my gut and goes straight into the bloodstream, so it’s been amazing for my health. It’s a newer product to the industry, people don’t realize we don’t absorb all the vitamins we take orally, so getting it right into the bloodstream is an amazing way to improve immunity and fight disease. It’s just a five-minute service, in and out.

Dan Firks: For a new client who comes in and isn’t sure what treatments they’d like, what advice would you give them?

Elena Bryant: Absolutely, one service that sets us apart is that both of our nurse practitioners offer a complimentary full face, body, and wellness assessment. They’ll talk through what’s going on with you, what’s bothering you about your health or your appearance, your face, aging, sun damage, all the different things. They’ll go through your goals and put together a full plan based on your budget and your needs, and help you figure out what’s going to get you the best results.

Dan Firks: I don’t know many spas that take the time to sit down with a client like that and find out their goals for one, three, nine months, or a year out.

Elena Bryant: Right, exactly, if you take the time to sit down and go through what’s important to you first, do you want to feel better, is there a certain part of your face that’s bothering you, and then we’ll start there. And I love our nurse practitioners, they’re both honest, they’re both busy moms, they understand there are different budgets and criteria, and they’ll meet your needs.

Dan Firks: Is it common for spas to have nurse practitioners on staff? I’ve never heard of that.

Elena Bryant: It’s more unique to Spa Lane. Brynn is our medical director, and we feel so blessed to have her, you can look at all her credentials on her website, but she was a nursing professor, so she can prescribe anything, it’s like having a doctor here.

Dan Firks: I love that, that’s a step up from your standard spa.

Elena Bryant: I agree, they’re both wonderful. Melissa specializes in wellness and hormone therapy, helping people from the inside out.

Dan Firks: So tell me, Elena, what kind of experience does your staff have here at Spa Lane?

Elena Bryant: Sure, I’ll start with myself. I’ve been in the beauty industry since I was 15 years old. I managed a salon, I was a hairdresser, and then I became a master esthetician. I’ve been an esthetician for 18 years and owned Spa Lane for 14 years. I’ve worked on a lot of skin, I’ve seen a lot, and my passion is helping give results to women where they want to see a difference. And then there’s Lauren, my sister, she’s been in the industry for 18 years. She lived in Florida for many years and moved back three years ago, we feel so blessed to have her. She left a huge clientele in Florida, she had a seven-month waitlist for microblading, she’s so talented at microblading and brow artistry, we feel like we have a hidden gem of brows here at Spa Lane. And then we have Nicole, our massage therapist of ten years, she comes to us from working with a chiropractor, so she understands the body and muscles, and she’ll customize your massage for whatever your needs are, she’s wonderful. And then we have two nurse practitioners, they’ve both been nurse practitioners for 20 years, they come with a ton of experience. Melissa was in lung transplant at Loyola for 18 years, she’s amazing. And Brynn comes from a cardiac background, she was also a nursing professor, and she’s constantly going to education classes and the latest conferences that esthetic medicine has to offer.

Dan Firks: That’s wonderful, thank you for sharing your team with us.

Elena Bryant: One heck of a team here. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today.

Dan Firks: Elena, thank you so much for your time today. I really enjoyed getting to meet you and your staff, and I look forward to coming back to get some treatments.

Elena Bryant: Thank you, Dan, for being here, and thank you for all the work you do for our community and for our city that I love so much.

Dan Firks: That means a lot, sharing the love of Naperville. High five on that. Thank you for tuning into this episode of Living in Naperville, and we’ll see you around town.
