After the Candy: Pumpkin Smash

Don’t toss your old jack-o’-lanterns in the trash this year! Give them a green farewell by bringing them to the Naperville Park District’s free “After the Candy: Pumpkin Smash” event.

When you arrive, your pumpkin will be weighed to see how much organic waste we are saving from the landfill. From there, you get the satisfying job of smashing it yourself—or you can let one of the enthusiastic volunteers do the honors for you! All smashed pumpkins are composted directly into the garden plots, providing rich nutrients for next year’s crops.

Note: Please be sure to remove all candles, metal components, and non-biodegradable decorations from your pumpkins before arriving.
