Step into the spotlight and travel back to the golden era of cinema with the Cooper’s Hawk Silver Screen Soiree Wine Club Dinner. This February, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants invites its valued Wine Club members to a gala-inspired evening that celebrates the magic of the movies, the rhythm of the Jazz Age, and the prestigious partnership with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. It is more than just a dinner; it is a multi-sensory tribute to the films that have shaped our culture and the wines that elevate every performance. This event is a centerpiece of the annual calendar, specifically timed to coincide with the award season spirit, offering guests a ‘red carpet’ experience right in their local tasting room.

As the official wine partner of the SAG Awards, Cooper’s Hawk has a unique and intimate connection to the world of entertainment. This year’s Silver Screen Soiree is designed to channel the ‘Flappers and Fellas’ vibe of the 1920s—a time of speakeasies, bold fashion, and the birth of cinema. Guests are encouraged to embrace the theme, perhaps even donning their best vintage-inspired attire, as they prepare for a curated experience that pairs cinematic history with culinary excellence. The atmosphere is meticulously crafted to evoke the elegance of a classic film premiere, complete with award-winning wines and dishes that tell a story with every bite.

The culinary journey kicks off with a toast to the past. The welcome drink is the ‘Lavender Bee’s Knees,’ a seasonal curation that pays homage to the classic Prohibition-era cocktail. This refreshing start features honey and lavender notes, setting a sophisticated and floral tone for the night. Following the cocktail, the bread course offers a playful nod to Charlie Chaplin in the 1925 masterpiece ‘The Gold Rush.’ The Honey-Butter Glazed Sweet Rolls with Maldon Salt are inspired by the legendary ‘Roll Dance’ scene, proving that great food, like great film, remains timeless and comforting through the decades.

For the first course, the menu shifts to the sleek, modern classic ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ (2001). Rusty Ryan’s Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail is a sophisticated take on a Las Vegas staple, served with lemon vinaigrette-dressed baby greens and traditional cocktail and mustard dipping sauces. This course is expertly paired with the February Wine of the Month: Artist’s White Blend. This year’s blend is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, offering zesty, bright flavors that cut through the richness of the shrimp and highlight the vibrant citrus notes in the vinaigrette.

The main attraction is a dish that needs no introduction to foodies or film buffs: Petite Filet Medallion ‘Bourguignon’ a la Julia, inspired by the 2009 film ‘Julie & Julia.’ This tribute to Julia Child features tender beef medallions served over a silky celery root puree, accompanied by haricot vert and a rich Pinot Noir braised vegetable jus. This hearty, soulful dish is paired with the Artist’s Red Blend, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend that provides the power, structure, and richness necessary to stand up to the savory, slow-cooked flavors of the Bourguignon.

Finally, the evening concludes with a sweet encore from the musical classic ‘Guys & Dolls’ (1955). ‘Mindy’s Cheesecake’ is a classic New York-style cheesecake served with mixed berries, whipped cream, and vanilla sauce. To round out the meal, it is paired with the Strawberry Rhubarb Spritzy Sangria—one of the newest and most playful additions to the Cooper’s Hawk portfolio. This wine brings juicy, fruity flavors that balance the dense richness of the cheesecake, ending the night on a high note. What makes a Cooper’s Hawk Wine Club Dinner truly special is the sense of community; guests are seated at communal tables to share stories and a love for fine wine. Join us for a night where the glitz of Hollywood meets the heart of the winery. Cheers to the silver screen!
