Celebrate America’s heritage this Independence Day weekend at the premier Gettysburg Address Showcase. On Friday, July 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, history leaps off the page and into the historic Chapel at Naper Settlement. This special community gathering offers an immersive exploration of the foundational texts that shaped a nation: the Declaration of Independence and Abraham Lincoln’s timeless Gettysburg Address.

Whether you are a passionate history buff, a student looking to enrich your studies, or a family seeking a meaningful way to kick off the holiday weekend, this event promises to inspire, educate, and unite.

Why Attend the Gettysburg Address Showcase?

Our upcoming Gettysburg Address Showcase is designed to pull back the curtain on the intense political and social climates of 1776 and 1863.

  • Live Historic Reenactors: Witness professional actors bring Abraham Lincoln and early American founders to life. They won’t just recite the words—they will deliver them with the gravity, passion, and context of the eras they were born in.
  • A Patriotic Q&A Session: Have you ever wondered about the hidden drafts of the Declaration or what Lincoln was thinking on his train ride to Pennsylvania? Our panel of historians will take your questions live.
  • Community & Refreshments: Enjoy complimentary light snacks, festive lemonade, and iced tea while mingling with fellow history enthusiasts in a beautiful, climate-controlled historic setting.

Inside the History: The Power of Two Speeches

To fully appreciate the impact of the Gettysburg Address Showcase, it helps to understand how these two historical moments intersect. While separated by nearly nine decades, Lincoln explicitly used his 272-word speech to re-interpret the Constitution through the lens of the Declaration of Independence.

When Lincoln began with “Four score and seven years ago,” he pointed directly back to 1776, reminding a fractured nation that its true founding principle was the proposition that “all men are created equal.” By attending our Gettysburg Address Showcase, you will discover how these words transformed from a radical wartime speech into the definitive statement of American democracy.
