Sensory-Friendly Storytime at 95th Street Library

Looking for a calm, inclusive way to introduce your little one to the joy of stories? The Sensory-Friendly Storytime at the 95th Street Library offers exactly that…a gentle 30-minute session designed with sensory sensitivities in mind.

Hosted by the Naperville Public Library, this drop-in program welcomes children ages 3-7 and their grownups for a slower-paced experience that puts comfort first. No registration is needed, though space is limited to the first 10 child/grownup pairs.

Why You Can't Miss Sensory-Friendly Storytime at 95th Street Library

Traditional storytimes can feel overwhelming with bright lights, loud voices, and lots of movement. This version keeps things quiet and focused, choosing books and activities that support children who thrive in a calmer setting.

It’s part of the library’s ongoing commitment to inclusive programming across its branches, including the welcoming 95th Street location in south Naperville.

What to Expect

Expect a thoughtful, unhurried pace with stories, songs, and early literacy elements introduced one at a time. The environment features dimmed lights, lower sound levels, and minimal movement to help everyone feel at ease.

A designated calm-down area is available if anyone needs a quick break. The focus stays on making the library experience positive and accessible for all families.

• Ages 3-7 with one grownup
• 30 minutes of gentle engagement
• First-come, first-served (limit 10 pairs)
