Beat the winter doldrums and celebrate the season at the Wheaton Park District’s annual Ice-A-Palooza! This highly anticipated community event transforms the Central Athletic Complex into a vibrant winter wonderland, offering a perfect Saturday outing for families, friends, and skating enthusiasts of all skill levels. Held outdoors at the picturesque ice rinks in the heart of Wheaton, Ice-A-Palooza is a free celebration designed to bring the community together for two hours of non-stop icy entertainment and cozy winter treats.
The event features a wide array of activities that cater to every member of the family. For those who love the grace of the ice, the schedule includes breathtaking figure skating demonstrations by the talented skaters of Center Ice of DuPage. These performances provide an inspiring glimpse into the world of competitive skating, right in our own backyard. If you prefer to be the one on the blades, the open skating sessions allow you to glide through the crisp winter air to the sounds of high-energy DJ entertainment, creating a festive atmosphere that is sure to get everyone moving.
Beyond the ice, the grounds are packed with interactive fun. Children can head to the Preschool Activities Tent for age-appropriate games and crafts, ensuring that even the youngest attendees have a memorable experience. One of the highlights for the kids—and the young at heart—is a special visit from ‘Skates,’ the beloved mascot of the Chicago Wolves. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the mascot, snap photos, and share in the team spirit. For a bit of friendly competition, make sure to participate in the ‘Chuck-the-Puck’ game at 12:45 PM, where participants can test their aim for a chance to win bragging rights and exciting prizes.
No winter festival is complete without delicious ways to stay warm. Attendees can indulge in the ultimate winter snack at the S’mores station; for just $1, you can pick up a kit and roast your own gooey marshmallows over the fire. To wash it down, the Travelin’ Tom’s beverage truck will be on-site serving up steaming cups of gourmet hot cocoa. If you’re looking for a more substantial meal, the Curious Crow Food Truck will be stationed nearby, offering a mouth-watering menu that typically includes winter favorites like grilled cheese, chili, and smash burgers.
Photographers and social media enthusiasts will love the Snow Globe photograph opportunity, where you can step inside a giant inflatable globe for a truly unique winter portrait. Additionally, an inflatable slide provides even more thrills for kids looking to burn off some energy. Whether you are coming to witness the professional-grade skating performances, to enjoy lunch from a local food truck, or simply to take a few laps around the rink with your neighbors, Ice-A-Palooza offers a warm and welcoming environment for all.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 7, and join us from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Central Athletic Complex. Admission is entirely free, making it one of the best value events in DuPage County. Please note that while the event is free, certain concessions and activity kits carry a nominal fee. Come prepared to embrace the cold and make some warm memories at the 2026 Wheaton Ice-A-Palooza!
